Types of CFP Course in India
There are two ways to pursue CFP certification depending on the qualification and eligibility of the candidate. The two ways are
Regular pathway: This route is typically followed by students who are enrolled in the bachelor’s degree programs to apply for CFP. The route requires students to pass their 12th examination. Therefore, candidates who have passed the 1, 2, and 3, examinations are qualified to sit in the 4th examination which is related to advanced financial planning.
Pathway for challenge status: Students need to pass the advanced financial planning examination because this examination is considered the final exam to earn the CFP certification. A candidate must have relevant job experience before sitting for exam 4th (Integrated Financial Planning) to earn the degree of CFP course in India.

Eligibility Requirements of the CFP Course in India
There are certain eligibility criteria to appear for this course. The criterion is:
- The individual must be passed from 12th grade by a recognized board in India.
- Candidates must clear all the 5 exams that cover 6 different modules.
If you are appearing for the challenge status pathway, the eligibility criterion is different from that of the regular pathway. The eligibility requirement for this route is:
- Candidates who have advanced levels of qualification like CS, CA, LLB, MPhil, PG, Fellowship of Life Insurance, Actuary and UPSC exams are eligible for this course.
- Applicants need to pass only 1 paper on Advanced Financial Planning if they take up this routine.
